China is home to approximately one fifth of the worlds population, 1.3 billion people.

This figure went up plus one, when I made it my home from February to August of 2009, the year of the Ox.

I taught english to students at No.5 Experimental Middle School of Deyang. Most of you will not have heard of Deyang. However, most of you will have heard of Sichuan, the province in which Deyang is located.

On May 12, 2008, a magnitude 7.9 earthquake occurred. 17,121 people were killed, 74,063 injured, and 534 still missing in this city alone, as of June 7, 2008.

The horror is still fresh in Chinese peoples minds and as the world watched on, China did everything it could to help its people. Yet, they ploughed on; and after a fairly successful Olympic Games in 2008 they proved to the world that they were still resilient and as optimistic as ever.

I have created this website as a facility for any one who's interested in following my time in this fascinating country and as a source of inspiration and information for anyone who is considering following in my foot steps.
