So yea. I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself?
If you aren't interested... then what are you doing here! XD

So, where do I begin?
My name is Craig Lewis, but some people call me Ray.
I was born on the 21st of November 1989, the year of the Snake in the Chinese Zodiac, and a Scorpio under the Western.

My Home
I live in the county of Pembrokeshire in Wales, United Kingdom. I'm really proud to live here and consider myself really lucky. It's such a beautiful place to have grown up in. It inspires me to write about it and persuaded me to take up photography, one of my most active hobbies.
I've had a thing for China (and an overwhelming urge to travel) ever since I can remember...
I'm not always sure what sparked my interest in China. My family have always been big on history, and I can always remember hearing stories of the 'old days' when my Great Gran was still alive. Ever since I was a child, my parents tell me, I always used to ask about how the pyramids were built, how the Romans built Hadrian's Wall, how the stones in Stonehenge got there... etc
Eventually I started to ask questions about China and used to quite often read picture books as a child showing the Great Wall of China, The Forbidden City, the Teracotta Army...
As I got older I became more and more obsessed with learning about the culture and history of the country. I realised that the pictures don't portray the real China and that there was more to her then that.
The year before I "graduated", I was sitting in the study area in school "revising" (you know how it is hehe) and I noticed a poster advertising gap year activities in China, amongst other countries.
I sent for a brochure and a month later I had been accepted on a placement to teach english for 6 months...
I was originally due to go to Zigong in Sichuan province. Sadly, in May 2008 a devestating earthquake hit Sichaun killing tens of thousands.
This sent a shiver down my spine, and almost meant the end of my dream of going to China. However, after a lot of reassurance from Lattitude (the charity sending me to China) I packed my bags and headed to Deyang, in Sichuan province on the 4th of February 2009
The rest is, as they say, history :-)
Since coming home from China, I have decided to study the language at university degree level in the hope of going into a career that will allow me to use my passion for China on a daily basis.

Take Care,
Ray (Craig) x
